Come explore Fitzroy Island, a destination beloved by Cairns locals and visitors alike, where you’ll marvel at the rainforest-covered mountains as they slope down to the rocky headlands, the unspoilt coral beaches and the serene waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Comprised of 90% National Park land, this is as close to paradise as it gets.
After arriving at this impressive location by way of ferry, you can easily snorkel straight from the beach and discover incredible marine life and sea turtles, or simply bask in the tranquillity of the sandy shores of the famous Nudey Beach, which was voted the best beach in Australia. Another exciting way to explore the island's fascinating marine life is through our glass-bottom boat tours.
For those who prefer land activities, there are nine kilometres of walking trails through the tropical rainforest, where you can enjoy spectacular views of Green Island from 269 meters above sea level.
Whether you're out for adventure, a chance to take in the incredible scenery, or simply looking for a relaxing day with the family, you can customize your own adventure to Fitzroy Island.
Loved it, glass bottom boat would have been better if weather was not so grey.
We had a very good experience, crew were great all day. Destination was beautiful enjoyed the snorkelling at both beaches, loved Nudey Beach, although access could be difficult for some. We managed quite well. Nice if we didn't have to carry snorkelling equipment around all day.
Amazing day trip to Fitzroy Island with a family of 5.
Amazing day trip to Fitzroy Island. The boat was very comfortable and clean, the information provided by the crew regarding to how to use snorkel etc was great. The island was breathtaking. The glass bottom boat experience was exceptional (thanks to the captain we learned lots of things about the corals and where to snorkel). The Fox Cafe was so good and reasonably priced. We went there as a family with three kids ( 9, 11 and 13) and every moment was exceptional.
Family cruise to Fitzroy Island with snorkelling and glass bottom boat
Overall, a good experience. The boat was good and took 45 mins to get there. There wasn't much to see with the glassbottom boat, most of the coral was brown and not many fish. We did snorkelling at White Rock, which was meant to be the best, but there was not very good coral there. Nudey Beach was nice but not as nice as expected.
